In our habitat there lies a different kind of beauty, of time and place, nostalgic memories, old and new. it brings to mind our strengths and mortality, and also the force of nature, be it subtle or powerful. It brings to mind that there is only one constant, God, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:6).
A wild landscape is often an area of rugged or desolate terrain, awesome in beauty, untouched by man, surrounded by imaginary borders. But is there such a thing as true wilderness? Questionable in today's modern world considering at some time in history man has walked across, mined underneath, or flown over it. But there are wild places all around us in our cities and on our doorstep. Although not true wilderness it is still natural and wild in essence. An example being a rugged headland with a sweep of beach a stones throw from urbanisation, the area is not wild in concept but in reality it very much is. The view is admired continually yet not understood until it is experienced in new discovery, or the weather brings to view a different aspect rarely seen or experienced.
